“We’re so young.  We’re so young. We’re twenty-two years old.  We have so much time.”

Marina Keegan, “The Opposite of Loneliness,” now so heartbreaking.

can’t imagine such a loss for friends and family, going from such happiness to grief.

Women cannot be expected to struggle alone against the forces of discrimination and exploitation. I recall the words of Dante, who reminded us that “The hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in times of moral crisis.” Today in this world, in the fight for the liberation of women, there can be no neutrality.

Benazir Bhutto in a 1995 speech in Beijing at the World Conference of Women. This is a beautiful speech, go read all of it.  (via thepoliticalnotebook)

RIP B.I.G.

i vaguely remember hearing about his death back in 1997. we were playing in my cousin’s house and MTV was on, and since we didn’t have cable at home, i paid attention. i didn’t recognize his face but i knew his music, only because of my school bus driver Mary (she was sooo fly). i liked him enough, so i didn’t understand why other people wouldn’t.

still so sad.
