trolling the interwebz for all the news i’ve missed out on.

first up, have ya seen the new florence and the machine video? because i did and it made me feel super uncomfortable. SUPER. not only is there a man flailing around in blackface (omg so artsy u guize) but he’s also stabbing a voodoo doll of a white woman and is chasing after her whilst she flees into the arms of a white man.  but… this is not at all problematic and is totally acceptable because we live in a post-racial society in which this type of imagery is not rooted in any sort of historical context where white people have been historically portrayed as always “good” or “saviors” and non-whites are/have been exotified, othered, and/or inherently “bad,” right?  

come the fuck on. was this really the best music video idea for this song? who greenlights this shit? what is so difficult to understand about how offensive blackface is? why did the “black” man have to be chasing the white woman? why was the all boys choir all white? why was this video even made? i saw florence, but where’s “the machine”? 

ok, gonna try to sleep now. fingers crossed that it works!
